Family : Apocynaceae

Chemical constituents : The drugs contains a mixture of glycosides called strophanthin. It contains K – Strophanthoside and cymarol.

Uses : It is a cardiotonic. The drug is mainly considered as a source of K–strophanthin. These glycosides hare less cumulative effect otherwise similar in actions as that of digitalis. It is given parenterally, because of poor absorption by oral route.
